Self-regulation refers to the ability of the individual to assume responsibility for their own learning – socially, emotionally and educationally. Through learning how to self-regulate an individual has taken an important step towards becoming a responsible learner. By teaching learners how to self-regulate it has the potential to help with classroom management. The self regulation tools being demonstrated are based on those developed by Ron Davis and include: : 1) the ‘dial’ which is intended to enable the student to self-regulate their energy/movement; 2) a release (breath) to release stress and calm the self; and 3) a ‘focus/orientate’ tool intended to prepare students to take in, and process all multisensory information accurately. Participants will have the opportunity to experience these self-regulation tools in the session.
