North Central Teachers' Convention 2020

This session will provide practical skills which will help those trying to support students of all ages who struggle with depression, anger, anxiety, suicidal ideations and more. These ‘barometer children’ affect the ‘weather’ in our classroom in many ways and many times we feel ill-equipped to know how to support them in their journey of life. The skills you will learn in this session are part of an international comprehensive course called Family Connections which is offered through Sashbear.org in Canada. Kelly Maxwell (Black Gold teacher) and Cindy Gerdes (AHS employee) are trained facilitators and have lived experience with supporting a loved-one with severe emotional dysregulation. You will leave with skills and a renewed hope to be able to support those most vulnerable in our classrooms, community and home.
