Thirty two percent of all individuals will experience problems with anxiety over the course of their lifetime, including preschoolers. Why? This session explores how the brain reacts to stress and our responses to anxiety. We will explore the connection between cognition, behaviours and physiology, while discussing the different types of anxiety diagnosis. As educators it is important to understand what the symptoms of anxiety look like, and how to help children manage these symptoms. We will discuss tools you can use to support your students including relaxation techniques, restructuring cognition, facing their fears through exposure, and preventing relapse.
