Did you know that Canada recently had an astronaut orbiting 408 m above our heads at 7.66 km/s aboard the International Space Station? What about that we have committed to building the Canadarm III for the future Lunar Gateway AND investing in a Junior Astronauts Program?! Come and learn about some incredible current educational opportunities and Canadian innovations that you can apply to your lessons next week. This session is for all levels and uses space to teach a variety of concepts including; geography and land use, First Nations worldview, environmental monitoring and stewardship, the scientific method and engineering design process, scientific literacy, robotics, coding, photography, spaceflight, medical innovations and more! Learn about David Saint-Jacques and the other astronauts and Canadian Space Agency members as well as affiliated associations, who are all passionate about helping teachers bring a piece of the universe into their classrooms. Discover how you can BE THE SPARK for space and science in the hearts of your students! Amanda Green is a junior high STEM teacher with a not-so-secret super power, she can make ANYTHING about space. Come and pick her brain and help her reach her goal of one day seeing a maple leaf on the Moon or Mars!
