Did you know that, in the Cree culture, the structure and the construction of a tipi (migwap) are very spiritual and symbolic? It is constructed with 15 poles and each one corresponds to a “teaching”. The “Seven Sacred Teachings” by David Bouchard, presents a generic version of the main teachings, focused mostly on the Anishnabe / Ojibwé culture. In fact, each of the First Nations has its own spiritual and cultural practices. Join us in discovering the Plains Cree teachings with Ekti Cardinal and her husband David McConnell. You will learn how those teachings helped to ensure the survival of indigenous peoples and discover resources you can use in your classroom.
